Hi, I'm Jack – the name isn't real, but the rest of the site is. I’m a 27 year old single male living just outside Copenhagen, Denmark.
I graduated university with a Masters Degree in Software Engineering in June 2016 and has been working as a consultant 40 hours/week for a single company since then.
I’m not sure I’m really after the RE part of FIRE as my brain has a constant hunger for challenges, but the FI part fascinates me.
Being able to pick a job based on desire and not need. Saying F-you if need be. Basically, work with what I want, when I want. That’s my goal.
I’m in a bit of a unique situation compared to the other bloggers in the DK FI space I’ve seen. I’m an IT consultant, doing business through my own company. As such, I’m constantly trying to figure out how to best invest my money — in the company or pay it as salary and invest as a private person. It makes for some unique challenges.
I’ll try to document my choices and decisions for various reasons, one of them being accountable for the goals I set. A smart man once said that you’re more likely to achieve your goals if you write them down. This is me writing them down. It also enables me to go back and see why I made a particular decision and reflect on it.
This may also cause a bit more time between each post, as I try to research all aspects of the company-investment angle.
